Cardinals

I’ve completed two watercolor paintings of cardinal birds recently. I’ve been somewhat distracted by the world news, and haven’t always felt like being creative. However, getting involved in the creative process is always helpful to me, once I put my mind to it. It’s a stress reliever, by getting into the “flow”, and forgetting everything else, temporarily.

The first painting I did was of a yellow female cardinal perched on bare branches of a lilac bush, right after a winter snowfall. It was titled, “Lady In Waiting” and is 12″ x 9″ matted in ivory to 16″ x 12″. The second painting I did was of a red male cardinal perched on a tree branch in early spring, titled “Spring Cardinal”. It is 12″ x 9″ matted in ivory to 16″ x 12″.

These paintings were inspired by photos I took of cardinal birds outside our kitchen window.
